We are currently recruiting for a Carrier Allocation Manager who will be responsible for the implementation of our Far East Westbound (FEWB) allocations covering both short and long term contracts.
Your Role
As the Carrier Allocation Manager you will be required to develop a deep understanding of our clients’ business, as well as the portfolio of carriers operating on the trade, and also take the lead in building strong working relationships with key Asian origin stations and the UK branch network. A key part of the role will be to actively seek opportunities to drive continuous yield improvement by ensuring that the business we have is booked with the optimal carrier, whilst at the same time also ensuring we satisfy the contracts we hold and ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
Your Responsibilities
- Maintenance of customer allocations in our allocation capturing tool and ongoing review on POL basis in line with customer forecast.
- Undertake formal allocation review in preparation for peak shipping periods, including consolidating customer forecasts.
- Form & maintain a fully rounded understanding of our UK operation constraints / limitations / potential costs at a carrier level.
- Form a deep understanding around customer commercial agreements and operational requirements, specifically focusing on how this influences carrier / alliance choices.
- Agreement with Customer Care Locations / Intermodal / Account owners on best 2 x Freight All Kinds (FAK) carrier choices to be utilised when allocations are exceeded and / or for GP maximisation factoring customer service requirements, free-time and restitution. To be formally reviewed in conjunction with Branch, Intermodal & Trade on a quarterly basis factoring any changes in Trade strategy and / or carrier restitution agreements / carrier haulage potential.
- Daily monitoring of customer performance against allocation / carrier commitment & customer capacity commitment and proactive rebalancing of carrier bookings and where required in conjunction with key stakeholders at origin.
- Regular & structured engagement with account owner + branch on how to approach any requirements / bookings over allocation, which cannot be covered on the carrier NAC.
- Implementation of any carrier FAK strategy in conjunction with branch seafreight management to ensure we are booking in line with any FAK/NAC commitments.
- Steering of key branch FAK bookings ensuring we’re optimising carrier utilisation against yield and customer requirements.
- Ongoing development of working relationships / network building with key stakeholders at origin + Singapore trade team to drive better cooperation / support for K+N UK customers.
- Weekly reporting on booking status with context around any carrier issues which may be driving sub-optimum booking patterns.
Your Skills and Experiences
- Previous experience in a logistics or freight environment with knowledge of sea logistics operations. Far East Westbound trade knowledge advantageous.
- Sound financial understanding and excellent commercial awareness
- Strong customer service orientation and an ability to communicate effectively and confidently and with an approachable nature.
- Excellent organisational skills, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to problem solve.
- Strong affinity with required customer quality standards and able to work on own initiative as well as building strong relationships and collaborating with the team.
- Excellent time management skills, able to set priorities, fulfil critical tasks in time and keep to deadlines. You'll also be persistent and able to manage change and embrace new technologies and systems.
- Ability to understand and execute new processes.
- Excellent knowledge of MS office, specifically Excel.
