There is an exciting opportunity to join the Waitrose Insight team, who help drive the customer needs into the heart of decision making at Waitrose.
The role is specifically within the Category Insight team and will primarily support the commercial function which includes departments such as Buying, Brand Development and Category Strategy. This role will have a dotted line (matrix management) into the Category Strategy team, which sits within the Commercial Directorate at Waitrose.
You will represent the voice of the customer within Waitrose and be responsible for finding the best way to understand customer needs, attitudes and behaviours. You will need to communicate this Insight clearly and with impact.
The Category Insight Manager will also deliver recommended actions to stakeholders to drive increased sales through acquisition, brand loyalty and customer frequency. You will inform and engage key stakeholders at both strategic and operational levels - particularly leadership teams.
Working within the Category Teams to define the category strategy Ensuring alignment of the category strategy to the broader Waitrose Customer and Commercial Strategy Ongoing category performance reviews for buying teams Using multiple sources to identify opportunity areas within the category for future growth Commissioning ad hoc projects (primarily quant) for key strategic questions
Required essential experience skills and qualifications
Experience in a consumer insight environment from either client and agency side Previous experience in leading quantitative and qualitative market research studies and using panel / market data sources Fully comprehensive insight experience gained across a range of research specialisms (including desk research/analytics, qualitative and quantitative) and versed in a wide variety of insight methodologies Keeps abreast of key business strategy and plans and actively seeks out new business and market opportunities Strong verbal (presentation) and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and the capability to build productive business relationships at all levels Demonstrable experience of effectively influencing senior stakeholders to apply insight and positively impact business outcomes Strong project management skills, able to implement multiple projects simultaneously within time and budget constraints Ability to maintain a high degree of self-motivation and tenacity and passion for problem solving
