Sandoz is currently recruiting for a Demand Planner to join Sandoz on a permanent basis
Build an operational forecast and lead a demand review process that meets the cross-business unit sales goals whilst minimising inventory holding cost and services customers needs. Generate the “Gap to Target” position for the business in order to stimulate discussion with the leadership team re. gap closing (or gap enhancing) activity. Drive and influence the forecasting process with our key Wholesale partners and internal stakeholders.
Create the volume and value forecast Maintenance of forecast data in SAP APO including daily adjustments to assure a clear signal (at SKU level) across a 36 month rolling horizon. Utilise statistical methods to reduce forecast bias and error. Cleansing the statistical forecast history to improve the forward demand signal. Co-ordinate the forecasting component for launches or new commercial channels, ensuring accountability by Business Units on implementation. Post launch, review sales run rates to reduce forecast bias. Ensure demand is managed to forecast (or to agreed market share level), significant deviations are analysed and fed into the forward forecast plan. Partner with Supply Planners to react to short term changes in market dynamics.
Leadership of the Demand Review Facilitate the Business unit demand review cycle and oversee the whole demand process. Challenge the Marketing/Account Managers on forecast assumptions. Provide a ‘joined up’ planning approach between Supply Chain, Finance and the Business Units. Identify Pharmaceutical industry trends and market intelligence to shape the product forecast in order to maximise sales and margins, while also protecting customer service and inventory availability. Undertake root cause analysis and monthly performance reporting (to local, regional, global stakeholders). Engage with the wider Sandoz forecasting community to continuously develop best practice.
Gap to Target Generate and present the “Gap to Target” from a revenue perspective to the Sandoz leadership team (SLT). Use the the “Gap to Target” as the starting point to stimulate discussions with the SLT around Gap Closing/ Gap Enhancing activities. Model the impact of the Gap Closing/ Enhancing activities and report/ track on the impact of the activity that is signed off.
Partnering with Key Accounts Set the agenda and establish standard working practices with our key accounts. Meet with key National customers (i.e. Alliance Boots, Celesio ) to promote forecast methodology, improve forecasting signals/intelligence, reduce under indexing and ensure promotions, growth/decline etc are fully reflected in account plans. Establish internal and external KPI’s that drive service performance with our key accounts.
Manage and develop the APO forecasting system & supply chain process Develop the role of Demand Manager role as a key link to the wider Supply Chain Operations team, ensuring changes to the demand signal are communicated proactively to help mitigate potential shortages or reduce obsolescence Deploy Statistical forecast modelling to improve forecast accuracy/seasonality and historic purchasing trends. Train Supply Planners on the APO demand planning fundamentals and associated processes.

The ideal candidate will have: : • Graduate with business, economics or financial related degree or post-degree qualification • Preferably MBA graduate • Professional APICS or CSCP desirable Experience: • Proven strong analytical skills • Previous forecasting or purchasing experience in the pharmaceutical or FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) sectors • Proficient user of SAP and BI or similar ERP systems, data warehouse tools • Use of IMS in market data for market share analysis • Competent to chair meetings and deliver high impact presentations • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Able to project a professional and collaborative manner to internal and external customers • An understanding of the generic pharmaceutical industry, pricing and market dynamics
