The External Fulfillment (EF) Procurement Specialist partners with Operations and Finance to define business requirements and procure 3PL Non-Sortable and Heavy Bulk outsourcing services as requested by Capacity Planning team for Amazon EU Operations. He/She works to identify the best suppliers by working with external companies to gather, analyze and make recommendations for business awards in the frame of complex RFQs.
Procurement for EF Operations is among one of the most complex services to procure in the logistics as it requires to work on several levels to achieve performance, i.e.: i) explore and analyze real estate opportunities, construction requirements, labor constraints and CAPEX/OPEX line-by-line analysis comparable to a full-fledged FC Operations procurement; ii) understand and challenge the outsourced service in terms of performance of stow, pick and pack processes iii) drive complex IT integration liaising with internal and external IT teams; iv) negotiate and agree long-term contractual terms and legal liabilities.
The EF Procurement Specialist is able to negotiate all aspects of the relationship including total cost of ownership, payment terms, termination, allowable public relations activities, and support for deals up to €20M. He/She regularly collaborates with both Finance and Legal teams on financial and contractual issues and is able to support detailed benchmarking on the critical components of EF Operations in relation to variable and fixed cost as well as legal risks. He/She also provides ongoing support to EF Operations Senior managers, and act as a liaison, resolving any issues that may arise with a contract or supplier.
His/Her main responsibility is to close business deals ranging from 1 to 20M€ by coordinating a team of experts in a very tight timeline.
The responsibilities of the EU EF Procurement Specialist also includes:
prepare, organize and drive to completion tenders for a total value up to €20M of yearly contract value per year for every business cycle;
support commercial activities and QBR performance reviews with Top 10 contract logistics companies in EU;
monitor on a regular basis real estate capacity at current 3PL locations;
align with Finance and other functions to assess the detailed proposals and negotiate with suppliers at both financial and operational level;
support final recommendations in the form of detailed White Paper analysis ;
discuss and finalize with Legal (internal and external) agreed contractual terms up to contract signature.
Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, IT, or related field, OR 2+ years of Amazon experience
3+ years’ procurement experience
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
Process and information flow understanding
Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
Ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills
Supervisory or management experience
Supplier/ vendor relationship management
Experience in SQL database, Oracle or other financial management software
