This is a newly created role as a finance business partner for Sainsbury’s Own Brand (product development, technical and agriculture), Public Affairs (how we influence government) and Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (our business values). Exciting opportunity to support high profile sustainability programme, investing £1 billion to become Net Zero by 2040, with commitments around plastic, carbon, water, recycling, food waste, biodiversity & health.
This is a growing area due to the Net Zero programme and increasing government legislation being placed on retailers from recycling to plastic to food waste.

What you need to do
• Take ownership of cost centre management, period close and latest view for Centrals, working with various stakeholders (including senior stakeholders) across the Sainsbury’s Own Brand division• Take ownership of Research & Development tax credits, working with PWC• Support high profile Net Zero programme – x7 working groups and Steerco (chaired by Operating Board Director Paul Mills Hicks), 6 monthly external reporting of commitments, automation of reporting working with Data team and business cases for investment• Take ownership of ad hoc projects• Support annual budgeting process, including taking ownership for areas• Support internal and external Sainsbury’s Own Brand reporting, working across finance, with Central Trading Finance, FP&A and Investor Relations• Support cost centre management, period close and latest view for Non-BU and OI&E
What you need to know and show
• Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) or studying towards qualification• Proactive and takes ownership of tasks• Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight and being able to clearly articulate this through your communication• Strong commercial acumen• To have a good track record of strong financial control, but also the ability to maintain such an environment• Team player, able to work effectively within frameworks without direct supervision• Effective communicator with all levels of stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen• Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously, prioritise with good problem-solving abilities• Must have a strong eye for detail and accuracy
