We’re looking for an imports and exports compliance manager to join our newly formed Imports and Exports team, and help us to make sure that our business is fully compliant with all HMRC customs regulations. This exciting new team is vitally important, now more than ever, in ensuring that our business is well-informed and fully adherent with regulations surrounding the importing and exporting of goods. As an imports and exports compliance manager, it’ll be up to you to work collaboratively with teams and partners across the business and spearhead new ways of working, transforming your team into a centre of excellence. You’ll manage and support a team of direct reports, acting as a subject matter expert when it comes to customs regulations and as a role model for best-practice. It’s a big job, but a rewarding one that will make a positive impact on the way that we do business.
What you’ll do
•make sure that the business is fully compliant with all HMRC customs regulations
•manage the HMRC import and export compliance risks documented on the risk register
•take ownership of and drive a continual improvement approach to all processes relating to customs compliance
•make sure that there is sufficient training and engagement for all relevant new starters across Commercial, Supply Chain and Logistics
•make sure that the business accurately tracks and maintains complete records of all customs declarations and associated documentation
•triage any issues relating to customs declarations and associated legislation and documentation
•keep up to date with changes to import and export legislation and take the lead on driving any required actions to guarantee that we’re compliant
This role would suit people who have
•extensive and current knowledge of imports and exports regulations and HMRC guidelines
•experience in a similar role within a commercial or supply chain setting
•fantastic communication skills with the confidence to engage and influence people at all levels in the business
•previous line management experience and the ability to motivate, inspire and mentor your colleagues
•proven experience of leading change projects
•experience of project management would be advantageous
