Assistant Project Manager Equipment Delivery
Would you like to be a part of a team responsible for delivering a high value technically complex project from design to delivery? We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Project Manager at one of our sites in either Portsmouth or Frimley.
As an Assistant Project Manager you will be working with a highly motivated team and across high value, large scale and complex programmes and projects delivering into existing and new classes of submarines.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your project management and supply chain management skillset, as you will be working closely with Customers and Suppliers within the defence industry.
Your main responsibilities as an Assistant Project Manager will involve:
Day to day management of one or more Above Water Surveillance projects for both existing and future classes of submarines
Project Management, Control Account Management
Supporting the bids and tenders process
Supporting the wider team creation of contracts/ Bid Management
Monitoring performance metrics
Lead, control and monitor projects so that they are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality requirements, regularly reviewing and reporting on progress against plans.
Your skills and qualifications as an Assistant Project Manager:
Previous project management experience in a technical environment
Proven track record of management of control accounts, work packages and resource planning
Batchelor Degree, HND/ HNC or equivalent level of qualification
Supply Chain Management
Experience within the Defence industry
Risk and Opportunity

Maritime Submarines – Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Ash Vale, Broad Oak, Filton, Frimley and Weymouth.
We are currently responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of the Royal Navy's latest and most capable generation of attack submarines, as well as their intelligent Combat Systems trusted to detect threats in the naval environment.
Our Combat Systems team designs, builds, integrates and supports all of the submarine combat systems in the UK fleet – essentially, the eyes and ears of each platform. We provide through-life support for combat systems, sensors and radars, and deliver complex programmes and technologies by applying expert programme management and world-class engineering.
