The role will support the Head of Buying with strategic plans and provide weekly departmental updates, priorities and actions, whilst proactively seeking to continuously improve buying processes and how the buying function works within the business.
Supports and manages their team to ensure they operate efficiently by briefing the team on related creative projects, tasks, strategies, deadlines and marketing activity.
Supports their team and HOB by identifying development and training requirements. Develops relationships and key contacts throughout the business to ensure all departments are working cross functionally and effectively. Key departments are; Design, QA, Studio, Marketing and Imports. Works closely with other Lead Buyers, to deliver consistency across the departments, sharing new processes and ideas to drive their departments forwards.
Lead Buyers will be involved in buying a product area that can be managed alongside the Lead Buyer requirements which support the Head of Buying. Additional Buyers on the department would continue to report into the Head of Buying for performance reviews, targets and holiday/sickness sign off.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities: Uses the WSSI to make informed and strategic decisions alongside the Lead/Merchandiser
Responsible and accountable for managing a specific departmental area to ensure delivery of the KPIs
Responsible and accountable for planning the direction of their department to achieve the company and departmental KPIs.
Coordinates and ensures the Strategy is created, signed off and delivered for the department in advance of the season or when trading requires
Supports the Head of Buying with planning for Directional Meetings, Marketing Campaigns and Buying trips
Ensures product proposition supports International growth by covering marketing products as well as key volume lines
Understands the critical path and ensures colleagues manage at style level to ensure accurate dates are within the WSSI. Ensures the team is clear on how to manage a critical path. Highlighting new process or issues that cause the critical path not to work and reports findings back to the Head of Buying/Merchandising.
• Presents in a clear, concise and accurate manner adapting to the audience (team members or directors)
Completes project management tasks as requested by Head of Buying and Directors.
Works with their subordinates and in conjunction with the Head of Buying and Directors to influence strategic plans and development
• Actively involved with key related departments including Design, QA, Marketing, Studio, imports and warehouse to ensure teams are all working together effectively and efficiently on a day to day basis
Generates and encourages ideas and suggestions from self and team proactively feeding into the Head of Buying.

Identifies candidates for succession planning & promotion and brings these to the attention of the Head of HR and Director(s).
Works with the HR on the following tasks:
Screens, interviews and selects potential candidates.
