As a Lecturer in Fashion Business you will play an active role in the continued development of the award winning and internationally renowned Fashion Business courses at MMU, located within the Manchester Fashion Institute. You will have expertise in Fashion Buying office operations with an in depth understanding of developing fashion ranges within a buying office environment, sourcing, manufacture and global supply. This will be aligned with knowledge and experience aligned to strong commercial and analytical foundations and operational strategies.
You will have a global outlook and be able to contribute to the Fashion research community whilst providing high-quality teaching and supervision at undergraduate and/or masters levels, in line with the Fashion Institutes ambitions and future vision. The Manchester Fashion Institute is one of the largest providers of Fashion education in the UK and its curriculum reflects the broad and contemporary nature of the global fashion industry. The Fashion team is a highly professional and collegiate group who have been proactive in establishing innovative programmes of study to serve the needs of a 1600+ student population.
The successful candidate is also expected, either to undertake their own research and be in a position to contribute to the REF 2021 or to be in a position to maximise synergies between their own professional industry expertise and the Institute’s already-existing academic research, applied commercial consultancy and project-based practice. We encourage and promote research activity concerned with the ‘thinking’, ‘doing’ and ‘making’ of clothing and fashion and our research invariably engages with the real world. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work alongside our outstanding Business Development Team who specialise in developing commercial opportunities and research impact from our work related to a broad range of areas within the fashion industry.
