About the Role
We're looking for a Material and Inventory Planner to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
As a Material and Inventory Planner working within the Submarine Supply Chain Team, you’ll be responsible for planning, controlling and managing project material requirements to ensure availability meets operational demand in order to support Submarine programmes. You’ll provide material and inventory analysis on a unit by unit basis, controlling and optimising opportunities where they prevail. You'll also mitigate any potential supply risks and ensure customer satisfaction at all times.
Your activities could include but won’t be limited to: managing project material requisitions through Babcock ERP systems; providing the interface between Supply Chain and the Project/Production; reviewing inventory levels with a view to taking corrective action where identified; liaising with cross functional departments to ensure effective material planning execution; expedition all inventory in a timely manner to ensure on-time delivery and optimal planning of inventory for scheduled and ad hoc works
What do I need to do the role?
You’ll be educated to a minimum Level 2 NVQ, or have suitable experience. A Lean Six Sigma qualification would be highly advantageous.

Lastly, you’ll be a pro-active team player with a positive can-do attitude. Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential attributes for this post, as is the ability to be clear, concise and exact when presenting information and analysis.
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
