The Materials Planner position is vital in helping Cargill achieve its service and growth objectives. The position holder will be responsible for the optimal supply planning of raw materials for the production of animal feed on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. You will be challenged to create the best schedule to meet customer demand whilst saving costs, considering storage capacity, order lead times and production schedules.
You will be encouraged to change practices and processes to drive efficiency and will have the opportunity to deliver improvement as part of a small, customer-focused Supply Chain team. There is scope for personal development within the team and the wider business.
Ensure full traceability of all raw materials required for on time fulfilment of customer orders to ensure no stock outs and efficient production planning
Setting up Material Requirement Planning parameters to manage the materials portfolio in SAP
Review and challenge key order factors including but not limited to; order size, frequency, supplier lead times, contracts, in order to optimise plant and inventory efficiency
Manage inventory levels (volume and value) in line with business targets
Be actively involved with continuous improvement projects such as; portfolio rationalization, production planning training, warehousing and inventory optimization
Participation in new product launches as the phasing in/ out of products.
Graduate calibre, ideally University degree or equivalent qualification , candidates with relevant work experience without a degree will certainly be considered
Experience within supply chain/ production planning / purchasing in a manufacturing environment
High drive and energy level, and well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
Diligent, committed, and prepared to manage tasks through to completion, with a high level of attention to detail
Numerate, logical and able to make decisions
Clear communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate with people on different levels in the organization; essential that sound professional relationships are forged with key customers (internal and external), suppliers and colleagues
Must be hands-on, prepared to engage with the procurement, production, warehouse and customer services teams and when required go into the production areas of the factory
Ideally some previous experience with planning and/or production processes through the use of MRP/ERP manufacturing systems (e.g. SAP)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; intermediate or advanced use of Excel
