Shell is offering a position of Metocean Engineer for the NE Offshore Wind team. Prime responsibility will be to support the offshore wind projects with activities such as:
Metocean data gathering and interpretation
Derivation of metocean design criteria
Installation and operability analysis
The Metocean engineer is to support both greenfield project development as well as acquisition activities. New Energies/Wind business is starting to build up access to wind sites, preferable those in (early) development stage. Particularly in NW Europe the market is increasing in size and competitiveness. Success in New Energies is governed through access to resource (wind), power price, cost effective design and supply chain cost, financing arrangements, and access to markets/customers. As the industry is maturing, the competitive landscape is changing and will require innovation at several levels, including turbine design, improvement of yield, support structure requirements (monopiles, jackets, floating) and reduction of operating costs.
