The purpose of the position is the overall management and strategic tactical operations for all production/operating processes for the tropical vegetable oil refinery in Rotterdam Botlek.
The Operations Lead directly supports the Plant Superintendent to ensure all areas of responsibilities meet business and plant standards for safety, compliance with laws and regulations, quality, operational effectiveness and reliability, on time in full delivery of our customers, continuous improvement and financial performance.
The tropical vegetable oil refinery in Rotterdam Botlek is a “Most Complex Plant” consisting of 5 refinery lines, 3 fractionation units, 6 hydrogenation units, a blending section, a tank storage facility (+/- 170 tanks), 4 truck loading stations, 1 truck unloading station, a jetty to load and discharge sea vessels, coasters and barges and the necessary utility- and infrastructure.
The Operations Lead is responsible for:
All production/operating processes for the tropical vegetable oil refinery in Rotterdam Botlek (throughput: +/- 700.000 ton per year);
All vessel and truck unloading and loading activities;
The operation of the tank storage facility (+/- 170 tanks);
Site services like site cleaning and warehousing;
A production team (43 fte including production supervisor) to operate all production units;
A loading team (16 fte including loading operations supervisor) to operate all (un)loading facilities;
The security contractor (+/- 12 fte) to ensure site security;
A contractor (+/- 5 fte) for truck inspections and additive dosing;
A loading master contractor (+/- 5 fte) to supervise vessel and barge loading and discharge at the (sea) jetty.
The Operations Lead is the direct back-up of the Plant Superintendent in case of unavailability of the Plant Superintendent.
Master/Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, bio-chemical engineering, electrical engineering (or similar);
10 years’ experience in an operational/production environment;
Strong leadership capabilities. Solid background in managing and developing people;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Knowledge of country and local regulations;
Knowledge of systems like BBS, HAZOP, ISO, GMP, RCM;
Getting things done mentality;
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills;
Fluent in Dutch and English.
