We have a new opportunity for an experienced Planning Manager to join our Gunstones Bakery in Dronfield. Gunstones Bakery make up part of the Bakery Division here at 2 Sisters Food Group. A division which is leading the way in bakery, in Brand and Retailer Own Brand bakery goods.
You may not have heard of Gunstones Bakery, but the site produces some of the finest bread rolls, hot cross buns, iced buns and array of other baked products for one of the nation’s favourite high street retailers, Marks and Spencer.
The Planning Manager will be responsible for the conversion of the monthly commercial forecast into a practical Master Production Schedule (MPS) using these outputs to balance labour and materials on a weekly basis. The MPS should balance the service demands of our customers with the requirement to manufacture the SKU portfolio profitably. It includes consideration of site WIP demand, AYR and Seasonal Fin Goods lines which require both manufacturing & packing to be planned.
The Planning Manager is the main interface between the customer and the manufacturing operation and it is important that the Planning Manager is able to communicate at all levels of the business; working cross-functionally with the Commercial, NPD, Finance and Technical departments as well as external suppliers.
Roles like this really don’t come around very often, so if you’re either experienced within a similar production planning or scheduling role, working within the Food or FMCG sectors with excellent leadership skill, then this could be for you.
About the Role:
As the Planning Manager you will report into the Site Manufacturing Lead and manage a team of 4 reports. The role directly impacts upon sales revenue, the manufacturing process & customer service therefore close collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Commercial, Production and Finance teams are essential.
You will perform analysis of ‘what if’ scenarios in response to proposed changes in product demand and production capabilities, while proving recommendations of capacity plans regarding NPD, ad-hoc projects and other strategic initiatives.
You will manage the S&OP process from a site perspective and work closely with the Commercial and Operations teams to generate the medium to long term capacity plans. Delivery and maintenance of planning KPI’s and metrics and support, direct, coach and develop the Planning Team in all areas of responsibility.
The Planning Manager is also responsible for the development and maintenance of documented Planning procedures and continuous improvement of planning processes. Influencing working capital indications defined by the business, providing analysis to support and ensure accurate information is communicated to the Commercial Team in a timely effective manner on capacity constraints/opportunities. Along with managing and controlling the generation and distribution of all production plans in line with the customers delivery expectations.
