Carbon Fibre is in our DNA and dates back nearly 40 years, when McLaren revolutionised the construction of racing cars with the creation of Formula One’s first carbon fibre monocoque. Today we continue that proud tradition, though the technical demands of road cars are very different due to the uncontrolled environment of public roads - today’s automotive industry demands stronger, safer structures but also lighter vehicles with better emissions performance.
Over the past few decades, this knowledge has served McLaren well, we are still pioneering in the field of carbon fibre technology, still an innovator and still committed to developing new composite solutions that offer lighter and stronger solutions than traditional materials.
As a Purchasing Manager you will provide leadership to a team of 3, responsible for the procurement of carbon fibre components, this will include everything from raw materials, structures, interiors, exteriors and A class surfaces. You will also be responsible for supplier relationships and managing the purchasing strategy with a significant multimillion-pound spend.
This is a unique opportunity for you to really develop your skills outside of your purchasing skills, but there will be exposure that will allow you to indulge in wider business perspectives and activities, such as increasing your financial awareness, risk mitigation, contractual discussions and more.
This is a great opportunity for an existing Purchasing Manager or Senior Buyer looking for that next move, either way, you should have a wealth of automotive purchasing experience, ideally with carbon fibre but other body systems/components would be suitable. Educated to degree level in a relevant business discipline. CIPS qualifications would be desirable, not essential.
