An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a small and close-knit materials management team which provides a Supply Chain service based in Derriford Hospital.
Duties include ordering, receipting, reviewing and stowing of goods to wards and departments Trust wide.
Demonstrable experience working in a stock control situation would be a distinct advantage, as well as good IT skills, as the team will be responsible for using the Trust’s electronic inventory management system.
This posts to work as part of a team to cover 8am to 5pm.
An ability to work on own initiative (prioritising own workload if necessary), and as part of a small team within this very busy environment would be an essential requirement for this vacancy.
Applicants would need to be physically fit as the post involves moving, lifting and storing of medical consumables.
1). To provide an ordering and stowing service for medical and other consumables used at various locations around Derriford Hospital.
2). To provide administrative and clerical support to the Materials Management Supervisor and Logistics Manager, ensuring agreed service levels are maintained and delivered.
This service is provided to approximately 100 wards and departments within the 11 floors of Derriford Hospital including a number of offsite locations, which employs @ 6000 people and is a major healthcare provider for the Southwest of England. The Materials Management team are responsible for the ordering and stowing of a wide range of medical and other consumable items, ensuring nursing staff always have the correct product they require for treating patients close at hand. The small and closely-knit team handles a total of fourteen thousand separate lines over all locations, and is responsible for an annual turnover exceeding £5.5m. All transaction’s and expenditure is processed through the Trusts inventory system Genesis.
