As a member of the specialist Trade Compliance legal team the Trade Compliance Manager will provide Trade Compliance (export and import) advice and support to the Trading and Supply business.
This position is part of a virtual team with members, including the line manager, in other locations. You will be part of a global team of Trade Compliance Managers and your role is to provide advice and guidance for standard Trade Compliance issues.
You will assist the Trading and Supply business in assessing risk exposure based on sufficient knowledge of applicable Trade Compliance regulations and Shell procedures. The role will mean you will need to have a work closely with the Trade Compliance Officer, Trade Compliance lawyers and the Trading and Supply staff to resolve and avoid Trade Compliance issues (e.g. application of sanctions, imports, exports, anti-boycott issues). You will also need to work closely with Group Customs Subject Matter Experts and indirect tax staff on import and customs issues as well as with the Trading and Supply Focal Points to address escalations of counterparty screening matches.
In this role you will have a dotted line relationship with Trade Compliance focal points in the Trading and Supply focal points
This position will require you to have and maintain adequate levels of Trade Compliance knowledge, experience and expertise. You will also need to have and maintain a robust working knowledge of the Trading and Supply business to enable integration of mandatory Trade Compliance procedures into their business processes to manage and mitigate identified Trade Compliance risks. You will need to keep apprised of changes in regulatory requirements. Your role will be to promote awareness of Trade Compliance risks and required processes throughout the organization and to gather and report information on Trade Compliance activities as required for internal and external reporting purposes. You will Maintain close collaboration with relevant risk assurance, finance and compliance staff (e.g., GRAs, ECOs, Ethics and Compliance Managers) in the respective organization and ensure the right resources are available for technical classification requirements.
