Allegations that hundreds of millions of euros in bribes were paid by Barcelona box terminal operating company TCB to the ex-president of Guatemala in return for a concession to build a new box port at Puerto Quetzal have been circulating for a few years now, unfortunately emerging shortly after TCB was bought by Maersk’s port arm, APM Terminals. Spanish police have now begun making arrests, including one involving an alleged payment made in Spain in a bid to cover up the investigation.
