One of the most telling aspects about Amazon’s launch of its latest drone is the soundtrack. The noise emitted by the autonomous delivery device is muted by music. Who knows how loud just one of these things are, let alone a sky full of them? Hopefully the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which has just granted the e-commerce behemouth a one-year permit to operate delivery drones in the US has some idea. This piece from the BBC claims the MK27 unmanned aircraft can travel 15 miles and carry 2.3kg or less of shipments. Apparently, it’s fail-safe but people said Titanic was “unsinkable”… the logistics industry will be watching closely.
